I finished a BOM, last block

Yahooooo I just finished the last block for one of my BOM's that we did out at Franks Sewing Center. I now have the twelve blocks I need and I can start to cut out the sashing and then assemble the quilt top.

First day back at work

Today was my first day back to work since I clunked my head last week. I knew it was going to be a nightmare and it certainly didn't let me down. First I had to deal with the snow and ice on my way to work. I just want it to be known I'm sick and tired of all the snow we've had this winter. If I never see that white stuff again I'll be happy. If I could pack it all up and send it to Kristie who wants snow I certainly would.

I have your typical work station with an L shaped desk and a computer in the corner so there's lots of desk top space. When I got to work and turned the corner and saw my desk I wanted to turn around and go home. There was not one spot on my desk that didn't have papers stacked up on it. It was a nightmare of all nightmares. The bare minimum was done during the 5 days I was home. OK so I started to go through everything and to be honest I still don't have a handle on what it all is. From 7 to 8:30 I'm just seperating stacks of paper. At 8:30 I go to my first meeting of the day ( I hate meetings) and my boss wants to know if I'm done with everything yet? Excuse me, I had to bite my tongue to keep from asking her if she's F-----g nuts. After that meeting I dive in and keep plugging away. After only a few entries on the computer it's time for my first motion pill. By then I'm thinking this is going to be one very long day. Then it's the afternoon and we have another meeting to discuss my plan for getting caught up. What plan, just leave me alone to keep plugging away on everything. By Friday they said I have to be caught up because my month end is Monday and Tuesday. So the heck with the fact that typing makes me want to throw up, my concentration stinks and I'm fuming just keep on plugging away. I think it's time for a change of jobs. I'd love to work for people who actually care about a person if there is such a place out there. Any and all suggestions are welcome.
The good news is I'm making a block for my first BOM and this is the last block I need to make. I'm not going to finish it tonight but hey it's a start. Oh, and it'still snowing out.

Take your purse it's hurting my ass.......

So what do all of you think this statement and Jen have in common? So today was to be my nice relaxing day to just be home and sew NOT......... I got a call first thing this morning from Jen and my brother had been in a bad car accident last night. OK we'd go up to the hospital after our BOM and see how he is doing. Fast forward to about half an hour later when Jen comes to pick me up and tells me she slipped and fell on the ice by her garages. When her feet went out from under her she didn't fall straight on her tailbone but off to the side of it a smidge. So we go to BOM and she's already starting to be very sore and stiff. We leave BOM and head for the hospital and by the time she's getting out of the car she's a hurting machine. In we go and find my brother. They were getting ready to take him for an MRI of his hip because when they move his leg there all kinds of grinding sounds. They xrayed him on the ER and they don't think anything is broken but he's in considerable pain and isn't moving. So fast forward to we're leaving the hospital this afternoon and on our way out we pass a ladies room and I tell Jen I'm stopping in. She goes to sit down so of course I give her my Miranda to hold onto. I come out and she's standing there and says to me " take your purse it's hurting my ass". Apparently it was just heavy enough and with her purse the weight was pulling and it was making her sore ass even hurt more. Off to our complexes office we go so she can finally file an accident report with them and then she dropped me off. Anyway all day I kept telling her she had a broken butt. Tomorrow she's going to go to the walk in clinic since it's closed already and have it looked at.
More later. I just think it's funny that she's the """BUTT"""""" of my jokes.

Winter Is Back

When I got home from work the sun was just starting to go down and everything was dry. On Monday we hit a record high of 64 degrees. Most of our snow has melted making room for whatever else we get. Monday parts of Wisconsin to the south of us had tornados, we had thurnder and lightning. When I let Murphy out at 6 I was surprised to see that it was snowing out. Right now I was just out and it's still snowing and we probably have 2-3 inches out there. It's the very wet and heavy kind. If I was a kid this would be great snowman making weather. That's OK I'll just stay in the house and get up to leave for work a little earlier tomorrow. Who knows how much we'll get.
Now that I've done the "weather" report for all of you it's time for bed. My swap squares are all cut and ready for BOM tomorrow night. Then, along comes Saturday and I'm going to sew all day,Yippppppppppeeeeeeee

A new day

Today is a big day in Cindy world. Michelle and her quilty ladies are as we speak driving up here to spend the day with Jen and I. I am so excited I got up extra early to start my Saturday jobs. Last night Jen was laughing at me because I was making a list of all the things that I want to get done this weekend. My apartment needs a big straightening and cleaning for fall. There is stuff everywhere and it's driving me crazy. When you live in a small place it doesn't take much to make it look like a bomb has gone off. I started on the kitchen this morning and made great progress. Now I'm waiting until 8 so that I can start the washer and do my vacuuming. My upstairs neighbors probably can't hear the vacuum but they are such nice people that I don't want to take the chance of waking them up. Then it's time to straighten my sewing area. I figure if I come up with a master plan and take a certain amount of time each day by the end of the week I'll be finished and happier. I have to also work in some time for sewing.

Last night we started our new BOM for Fridays. This is going to be so much fun because one of my sisters who just started quilting has joined along with one of my nieces and a dear friend of Jens so it's a good group. We did a little shopping after the meeting and then a few of us went to a Mexican restaurant close to the shop for some food and of course a margaritta.

Back to my cleaning. I"m so excited because I can't wait for the group from Iowa to get here. More later after our company has to go home.
