A blogging I will go

I can't believe it's been so long since my last blog. Not alot going on in Cindy world. I haven't been sewing and all I've been doing is going to work and sleeping. Yes I said I'm back at work. I'm starting to feel better but every day is a whole new challenge. Yesterday for example when I would go to write numbers I always had them backwards. I've been having a few problems with remembering things too but I've talked so much to my DR lately that she's given me her home phone number. Last weeks dizzyness was a result from the clunk on the head. As the swelling of the brain goes down different things happen. There sure is never a dull moment that's for sure.

Tonight I decided if I didn't sit still I wouldn't fall asleep, so far so good. One of my sisters is coming for a visit for a week from Arizona and I'm so excited that we get to spend sometime together. Jen and I will go to the airport late Friday night and pick her up. I've been going to straighten my apartment for days now. No such luck. I get so easily distracted. Tonight I was looking for a certain pattern and now my sewing area is scattered with all kinds of patterns and I need to find a place to keep them all. Oh well, maybe tomorrow night I'll accomplish something.

Valentine's Day

I just wanted to wish all of you a Happy Valentine's Day. May your day be filled with either flowers or candy or just love.

Well it ended up I was home from work again today. Today was a new sympton, my world is spinning. I'm forever tipping and falling into things. So that makes for not a safe drive that's for sure. Now my fur child Murphy has really stepped up to the plate and he's taken it upon himself to always be at my side so I can hold onto him. I seem to be fine when I'm in one place but moving around isn't all that great. We'll see what tomorrow brings but I have a feeling I'll be on the couch again. Good thing my apartment is small so I can hold on to things when the dog is sleeping.

I finished a BOM, last block

Yahooooo I just finished the last block for one of my BOM's that we did out at Franks Sewing Center. I now have the twelve blocks I need and I can start to cut out the sashing and then assemble the quilt top.

First day back at work

Today was my first day back to work since I clunked my head last week. I knew it was going to be a nightmare and it certainly didn't let me down. First I had to deal with the snow and ice on my way to work. I just want it to be known I'm sick and tired of all the snow we've had this winter. If I never see that white stuff again I'll be happy. If I could pack it all up and send it to Kristie who wants snow I certainly would.

I have your typical work station with an L shaped desk and a computer in the corner so there's lots of desk top space. When I got to work and turned the corner and saw my desk I wanted to turn around and go home. There was not one spot on my desk that didn't have papers stacked up on it. It was a nightmare of all nightmares. The bare minimum was done during the 5 days I was home. OK so I started to go through everything and to be honest I still don't have a handle on what it all is. From 7 to 8:30 I'm just seperating stacks of paper. At 8:30 I go to my first meeting of the day ( I hate meetings) and my boss wants to know if I'm done with everything yet? Excuse me, I had to bite my tongue to keep from asking her if she's F-----g nuts. After that meeting I dive in and keep plugging away. After only a few entries on the computer it's time for my first motion pill. By then I'm thinking this is going to be one very long day. Then it's the afternoon and we have another meeting to discuss my plan for getting caught up. What plan, just leave me alone to keep plugging away on everything. By Friday they said I have to be caught up because my month end is Monday and Tuesday. So the heck with the fact that typing makes me want to throw up, my concentration stinks and I'm fuming just keep on plugging away. I think it's time for a change of jobs. I'd love to work for people who actually care about a person if there is such a place out there. Any and all suggestions are welcome.
The good news is I'm making a block for my first BOM and this is the last block I need to make. I'm not going to finish it tonight but hey it's a start. Oh, and it'still snowing out.

I'm going to be fine.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I saw my DR today and after the radiologist read my cat scan from last week I didn't have any mini strokes. He's not sure what the other DR thinks he saw but there wasn't anything there. So, that's the good news. The bad news with the type of concussion I had it will take another 3 to 4 weeks for me to get back to where I was before all of this happened. I've been released to go back to work tomorrow. I have to take frequent breaks from my computer because that makes me nautious. I already had an email from them telling me they are sorry for the big mess on my desk but they hope that I can get caught up by the weekend. OK are those people crazy or what? I think I won't be a very happy camper when I go in tomorrow.

No sewing again today

Well I didn't sew again today but tonight after a nice long nap I got a burst of energy and attacked my sewing area. I sew in my livingroom and it drives me crazy when it's a mess even though it's usually just the dog and I. I have two rolling carts with drawers and I went through those first. I took out fabric for projects that I had in there that I know I won't be doing for a while and put those things in project bags. Got all of my BOM's together so that I have an idea on what I need to do to catch up. Took out all the fat quarters that I had been aquiring and put them in the fat quarter containers. Then it was time to go through all the bobbins, scissors and other sewing tools and get that all straightened out. Now with all of that done all I have to do is wait until one day when I sit down to sew it doesn't make me queasy.

I'm been watching movies ever since and listening to the wind howl outside. Our temperature took a dive down and it's now 0 degrees. The wind is wild out there so I'm glad I'm not leaving the house on Sunday. OK I'm off to try and finally get some sleep. Maybe tomorrow I could try cutting something simple out.

I'm feeling better every day

I thought it was time to stop in and let everyone know how I'm doing. Each day is different. I didn't realize when you hit your head as hard as I did what it took to feel better. It's a slow process. The rest of me is loosening up finally but the back of my head is still really sore. I have the attention span of a flea so I've done nothing this week. I do sleep alot well I try to but I keep getting phone calls from work. Now I don't mean to sound like a crab but when a person is home because they've had an accident and they are trying to recover I see no reason to bother them everyday with questions on how to do things. I'm just an hourly worker in our office. It's not like I hold a huge position or I'm salaried. I've decided that tomorrow I'm taking no more questions. When someone is home sick I'd never think to give them a call to ask them questions about work.
Our snow has finally ended and they still haven't shoveled me out. Now I called the office this afternoon because I am to go in and file my accident report but it's been so bad out I haven't been able to get there yet. I've been pushing the snow away from my door just so Murphy can get out. Jen and Mike came tonight and they couldn't even park in my outside spot because it hasn't been plowed up by me yet. For any of you who have been here you know that I live at the top of a very steep driveway. Thank goodness I haven't been trying to get in and out and go to work this week. I just can't wait for spring.
Anyway all these days home and no sewing done at all, it's really depressing. Thanks for all the good wishes I appreciate them all.

What I made on Super Bowl Sunday

I finally have a chance to post the pictures of what I made on Super Bowl Sunday when Jen and I sewed together. The door hanging is a panel I picked up at the Patched Works. All I had to do is layer it up and FMQ. You can't tell but I'm proud of how my FMQ is coming along. I think it's just one of those things that you have to constantly practice. The next picture is my Valentines pillow case. I picked up a kit again at the Patched Works when Jen and I were there on Saturday night making Valentines Post Cards. I need to do a little finishing on them and I can post pictures of them too. Anyway I made this pillow case. It took me quite a while to do and I'm not sure why but I kept getting confused. I've made so many of them in the past this should have gone easier. The flap is pretty big but I wanted to make one with a larger flap but now that I've done it I won't be doing that again. All in all I had a great day sewing with Jen.

What a day I had

As most of you know from reading Jen's blog I've had quite a few interesting days. Monday I fell and hit my head on the sidewalk outside my apartment. The last thing I remember was seeing my feet go up in front of me. Thank goodness it wasn't very cold out because they say I was unconcious for about 15-20 minutes.

I'm going to be home again today since boy do I hurt. The back of my head is very sore and it's now gone down my neck into my shoulders and my lower back is sore too. I've been sitting with a hot pad on my neck and shoulders trying to loosen them up some. Let me tell you I was pretty scared when I couldn't even remember Jen's name.

My Day Nurse Murphy has been taking good care of me. It's amazing how dogs can sense when something is wrong with a person. I keep waking up because I can sense him staring at me. Most times when I open my eyes we're almost nose to nose and I just see two large brown eyes staring at me. Nurse Jen comes in after work and has taken excellent care of her Mom. I'm very glad I found out just who she was. I'd make a lousy person with amnesia because it made me very mad not to know who people were and other information they asked me.

Thank you to everyone for your concern.
Cindy

A little snow humor

I can't believe it's been a week since my last post. Not much has happened around here with the exception of more snow. I took this picture of Gertie the Goose yesterday after more snow. Poor Gertie she's waiting for spring, aren't we all. The only sewing I did this week was to sew binding on a quilt to help Jen out. Today there are some quilt shops that we're going to and then tonight our favorite store The Patched Works is having a party and you can stop in and make a valentine that should be fun. We didn't even go to our Batik Club meeting on Tuesday night because of the bad weather. I'm hoping today to do a few BOM's blocks so that I get caught up. Other than that not much else going on around here. I'll post pictures of my blocks when I'm done.
